Marchesi di Montecristi® produces all the Panamas and handbags from organically-grown Carludovica Palmata cultivated on a community-owned plantation which encourages biodiversity of plants and animals within a 5600 hectare protected area.
This particular straw is recognised worldwide for it high quality and beauty and can be cropped once a month for 100 years! Making this material one of the most sustainable in our planet.
In Ecuador, all the straw that is trimmed from our products is used to create compost which is used to grow vegetables in the association’s garden which grows vegetables to feed the community.
Our Panamas and handbags are a 100% biodegradable and their accessories are easily recyclable.
